There’s no doubt Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey are both prestigious actors. Anyone who doubts it can refer to their respective Oscar statues. At the same time, both of them seem to fall into that category of Academy Award winning actor who doesn’t always pick the best roles (see: Ben Kingsley in Thunderbirds, Suspect Zero, and Bloodrayne). The duo unite for their next film, Edison, which costars Justin Timberlake of “N’Sync” fame and LL Cool J. Guess which category of film this police drama will fall into?
The film focuses on... well, to tell you the truth I’m not quite sure. The lengthy film synopsis on the website extends past my screen so I can’t quite scroll through it (note to the designers of the Edison webpage: a synopsis, by definition, is brief). The trailer that is included on the website is only available through streaming which, no matter how good my connection or how small a size I selected, I couldn’t keep audio and video synced up (no N’Sync jokes needed). But it’s a drama starting Timberlake who plays a reporter attempting to uncover corruption in the title town of Edison. No doubt Spacey plays a bad guy and Freeman is in some sort of mentor-authoritarian type role. At least neither of the higher caliber actors had to stray much from their usual styles for this.
