Eli Roth Sticks With Lionsgate For The Last Exorcism image
We’ve seen shaky cam films about ominous legends, house haunting demons and monsters terrorizing New York City, but never an exorcism. As reported by Variety, Lionsgate nabbed the domestic distribution rights to Eli Roth’s The Last Exorcism. Formally titled Cotton, the film is about a minister named Cotton Marcus (Patrick Fabian) who permits a documentary crew to cover his final exorcism.

Roth found the script from Huck Botko and Andrew Gurland so impressive, he agreed to produce the film. Directorial duties fell to German director Daniel Stamm. Eager fans of Roth created an online whirlwind of excitement around the project which undoubtedly fueled the buying frenzy. Lionsgate was considered the front-runner from the start eager to reunite with the Cabin Fever and Hostel director. Jason Constantine of Lionsgate said, “It’s always great to work with our friend Eli, who has played a key role in establishing Lionsgate in the vanguard of the horror genre.” Constantine expects The Last Exorcism to fall right into place with the studio’s creepy collection of films for it “feels as close to a real exorcism as anyone would ever want to get.”

I don’t doubt that this flick will contain some freaky material. Check out the first image from the film posted by JoBlo to the left. If you don’t find that disturbing, there’s something wrong with you.
