Elizabeth Banks To Star In Kurtzman's Welcome To People![]()
There’s no doubt that Elizabeth Banks is one of the most quickly rising stars in the film industry right now. She’s currently enjoying a long-running role on Tina Fey’s 30 Rock, can be seen hawking L’Oreal makeup, and is starring in five movies in various stages of production. She’s one of the busiest women in Hollywood, but rightfully so.
The 36-year-old will be adding a sixth film to her already packed release schedule called Welcome to People, according to THR. The film will follow a business man, to be played by another new superstar Chris Pine, who returns home for his disconnected father’s funeral, only to find out that he has an alcoholic sister (Banks) and a 12-year-old nephew. It's a role that Amy Adams was originally up for, and quite a turn from her hilarious role on 30 Rock or Zach and Miri Make a Porno, but Banks has proven before that she can handle drama so this should be no problem for her. Welcome to People is written by current Hollywood go-to writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman along with Jody Lambert, who has nary a writing credit to her name. This will also be Kurtzman’s first run at the director’s chair since he helmed one episode of Alias back in 2003, but the writer has spent so much time working with talented directors these past few years that it’s hard to imagine he’ll do a bad job. More on this as details develop. |
