Eric Bana As Steve Irwin?![]()
It's really too soon for this, but everyone's already talking about making a movie out of the life of deceased nature wrestler Steve Irwin. The latest bit of Irwin movie gossip says Eric Bana may play him.
The guys over at Filmstalker found a quote at Starpulse from Irwin's friend and manager John Stainton who says, "He (Irwin) raced up to him on the red carpet and said 'Eric, you have to promise me one thing, mate - you've got to play me when I die.' If we ever do a movie I'd have to get Eric Bana." For a friend, Stainton seems awfully eager to profit from his buddy's death. Somehow, from that little quote, people have gotten it into their heads that Eric Bana is now the frontrunner to play Steve Irwin in a biopic that doesn't yet exist. Last week it was Russell Crowe being rumored for the role, so if you're an Australian male between the ages of 30 and 50 watch the papers. You could be next. Frankly, I don't see the point in a movie. Maybe Steve was an important conservationist, but he already shared the most interesting parts of his life with us on television. We've seen him wrestle crocs, whatever happened behind the scenes can't possibly beat that. |
