Eva Mendes And Greta Gerwig Head To The Place Beyond The Pines![]()
For those out there with an obsession with beautiful Latin women, your queen Eva Mendes has just landed some more work, so prepare yourselves. The Ghost Rider star has just signed on to The Place Beyond the Pines, joining perpetually rising star Ryan Gosling and Hangover megastar Bradley Cooper, who are set to play the leads.
The film centers around a biker-turned-robber (Gosling) and his presumed nemesis, a cop-turned-politician (Cooper). According to Deadline, Mendes will be playing Gosling's love interest, and Greta Gerwig, most recently of Arthur fame, is in talks to step in as Cooper’s wife. I don’t know that I buy Bradley Cooper as a politician, but I’ve recently been able to let go of my “oh he’s just that guy from Wedding Crashers” hang up, so I’m sure he'll be able to move past “oh he’s just that guy from The Hangover” without much issue. Set to direct is Derek Cianfrance, who recently worked with Gosling on Blue Valentine. Described as a multi-generational crime drama, The Place Beyond the Pines should be able to adopt Valentine’s look as well as its ability to tell a story over an expansive timeline. With Blue Valentine as solid, albeit hyper-depressing, as it was, there’s no doubt that Cianfrance will come out of The Place Beyond the Pines with something special. Keep an eye out as casting fills in and production gets started. |
