Evil Dead To Become A Horrifying Haunted Maze At Universal Studios This Halloween

Cabins in the woods appear to be a recurring theme for Universal Studios' Halloween Horror Nights this year. Following up on the announcement that Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard's The Cabin in the Woods would be featured at Halloween Horror Nights 23 in Universal Studios Orlando comes the latest announcement, which states that Evil Dead is also getting in on the Halloween Horror Nights action, not only at Universal Studios Orlando, but also Universal Studios Hollywood.

Evil Dead Halloween Horror Nights

This news comes less than a day ahead of the DVD/Blu-ray release of Fede Alvarez's Evil Dead, which hits shelves tomorrow (Tuesday, July 16). Those brave enough to risk being consumed by whatever evil awaits in Evil Dead's cabin in the woods can head to either Universal Studios Orlando or Universal Studios Hollywood during the annual Halloween Horror Nights event this fall. The Evil Dead remake will be represented by a horrifying haunted maze at both locations. Those who think they can stomach the terror that lurks inside can get in on this authentic experience, which promises to immerse horror fans in the blockbuster remake of a cult classic.

If you haven't seen the film, Evil Dead stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas, Elizabeth Blackmore and Lou Taylor Pucci and centers on five 20-somethings who visit a cabin in the woods - a premise shared by The Cabin in the Woods, as you may have guessed - and turn the place into a blood-soaked chamber of horrors after they awaken an ancient demon. This year's Halloween Horror Nights event at Universal Studios will include haunted mazes, beginning with the reading of a mysterious passage from an ancient book, which releases the unearthly force of darkness. "A pack of violently possessed victims, including the film’s starring character “Mia,” wreaks brutal carnage throughout the mazes – and guests must make their best attempt to escape." Director Fede Alvarez expressed enthusiasm about the event, saying that the maze will be just like the film in that it's "over-the-top, in-your-face and completely outrageous." While Universal Orlando's Michael Aiello says the haunted mazes "will be just as intense and unapologetically terrifying."

It sounds like this is something fans of the film and horror-fanatics alike will want to check out. And it's great that this one will be featured in both the Orlando and Hollywood Universal Studios, unlike the Cabin in the Woods, which is just at the Orlando location.

You can get more details about what's going on at both Universal Studios Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood for the 2013 Halloween Horror Nights by going to HalloweenHorrorNights.com. Dates for the event at Orlando are currently listed as September 20 to November 2 for select nights.

In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.
