The DaVinci Code sequel Angels & Demons is starting to round out its cast. Ron Howard will be back as director and Tom Hanks will of course, be back as the Euro-haired Dr. Robert Langdon. Unfortunately, everyone else on screen will be new. I say unfortunately because Hanks was easily the least interesting thing about DaVinci Code. It’s a shame they can’t bring back Ian McKellan instead.
Word though is that Ewan McGregor may be in talks to join the film. He’d play a Vatican insider who assists Langdon, a role which sounds somewhat similar to the one McKellan filled in the first film.
Variety also says they’ve locked up the movie’s female lead. An Israeli actress named Ayelet Zurer has the part. Zurer was most recently seen in Vantage Point, but she had a much more memorable and pivotal role in the Spielberg film Munich where she played Eric Bana’s pregnant wife.
In Angels & Demons, Langdon tangles with the Illuminati and Zurer plays an Italian scientist who teams up with him against them.
