It’s been awhile since we’ve heard anything about Sony’s impending Da Vinci Code sequel Angels & Demons, but that doesn’t mean it’s dead. The film is still in pre-production and they’re planning it for a 2008 release date. Tom Hanks is supposed to be back, and now we have an exclusive on who may be the film’s next cast addition.
According to an anonymous source of ours over at Sony, model turned actress Gisele Bundchen is joining the cast to star opposite Hanks. She’ll play the part of an Italian woman named Vittoria, a role many fans had been pulling for Monica Bellucci to land. But word is that director Ron Howard and writer Akiva Goldsman wanted someone younger for Vittoria and so ended up going with Bundchen. Gisele already has the script in her hands and they’re planning to start shooting Angels & Demons as soon as this June.
Now our standard disclaimer that comes with any sort of scoop like this. Whenever you see the words “anonymous source” on any report, whether it be from us or any other publication, that means anything said afterwards should be regarded only as a big, stinky, rumor. We can’t confirm whether or not this is true. I contacted Sony this afternoon for some sort of confirmation, and their representative said he hasn’t heard anything about it in his office. That doesn’t mean it isn’t true, it just means he doesn’t know. So, hang on for Sony or Gisele to give us some sort of official confirmation before hanging this on your Angels & Demons fact hat rack.
That said, Gisele’s schedule is certainly clear enough to permit it. She was last seen in The Devil Wears Prada, and before that she had a major role in the 2004 movie Taxi. The only thing that might get in the way of her doing it, is that she’s rumored to be pregnant with Leonard DiCaprio’s baby... or maybe it's Tom Brady's. Pick a dude. Perhaps that doesn’t matter. Assuming it's even true, she wouldn’t be the first actress to make a movie in her third trimester.

That's ridiculous. For this model to get a part opposite Hanks is embarrasing. And she is supposed to play an Italian woman?? LOL, she can hardly speak English without a thick Portuguese accent. Plus she can't act except to flounce around in miniskirts.
btw, she is supposedly having that football players baby, not Leo's. He's with Bar Refaeli and she's with that guy who made another woman pregnant just before he dumped her, LOL
I totally agree with you Jasmine. To play against THE TOm Hanks, we need someone with real acting skill, not just a pretty face. I have seen her performance in Devil Wears Prada, I think SOny really need to think really carefully about it before they decided on using her!!!!!! What a shame!!!~
I liked Gisele in Taxi! At least she was HOT!!! I believe Sony wants to put someone famous on this role to catch more attention, that might explain why the choosed Gisele.

Kidman is good, but nowhere in the same class as Gisele. Gisele is America’s most decorated actress. Fortunately, in recent years Gisele has appeared in some films (Taxi and Devil) !!!!!
REDICULOUS!!!!! Gisele was aweful in both Taxi and the Devil wears Prada!!!! She isn't even dark enough to be italian. I honestly think Eva Longoria would make the best Vittoria, She's a terrific actress unlike Gisele, and she's still young and MUCH MUCH MUCH prettier!
I don't think it has anything to do with how young or old the actress is. They need to get someone not quite so famous as Gisele. I loved that they picked someone like that for Sophie in the DaVinci Code and I think they need to do the same for this movie.
Gisele is a man-stealing you-know-what who couln't act her way out of a paper bag. She stunk up the screen in the gastly 'Taxi' and the 2 second appearances on 'Prada' hardly held me riveted to the end of my seat. I have a hard time believing that a director of Howard's rep is stupid enough to doom his movie before it even begins filming. Although it might be a treat to see her decimate the Italian language and make a complete fool out of herself. If all he wants is someone young and pretty he should go with Jessica Alba, Eva or any number of other talented ACTRESSES(something Bundchen is NOT). For more on Gisele/Brady/Moynahan:
Jessica Alba would be pretty good, she's much prettier than Gisele, plus she's actually an ACTRESS. Gisele was aweful in both her movies! She played a model for heavens sake in "Taxi" and she was still bad at it. How can you screw up a role of your real life job? But They should look into Italian actors/actresses for most of the roles. The movie will be much better without Gisele!
Gisele would NOT be able to pull this role off..they need someone sho isn't quite so bigheaded and popular. Gisele can't really act, and her accent is not Italian. But it seems that these rumours are true..so let's just hope that the film is good and lives upto the novel

Hey you guys. i think Gisele is good in Taxi and i believe in her. None director in the world is stupid. they have to choose what is best for their films including get more attention, advertising..... Monica is quite old although she's really beautiful. Plus, you can have any beautiful girl to act like Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johansson or someone else but the director didn't choose them. First, they didn't look like a real Italian. Second, the new one will get more attention from audience. For example Gladiator. The man actor is not famous until he acted in this film. I believe in our director. Just give her a try everybody

Speaking English with an accent doesn't have anything to do with good or bad English.
I agree with you when you said she is not a good actress, she actually is not an actress, she is a model.
Also, Italians not all dark in complexion. it depends where in Italy they are from.
Sorry but actresses as eva longoria and jessica alba haven't got particularly impressive skills...Gisele deserves an oppurtunity, she's the most beautiful woman on earth and still behave humbly...plus, as for the role she'll have to cover, she's from southern Brazil and got german and italian descendance, latin enough to play the part, she'll just have to convert her brazilian portuguese accent into an italian one.not too dificult!
