Kirk Jones isn't just any British director; his best-known film, Waking Ned Devine, is about as English as comedy comes. So when it came time for him to tackle Everybody's Fine, a remake of an Italian road trip film to be set in America, Jones knew there was only one way to prepare: take a road trip himself. Having traveled all over America by bus and train, and even meeting a few strangers he would wind up casting in the film, Jones set out to direct Robert De Niro, Sam Rockwell, Kate Beckinsale and Drew Barrymore as a family-- a task that came with its own set of challenges.
