Expendables 2 Poster And Synopsis Revealed: Guess Who Dies In The Beginning
Though a lot of the movies sold at Cannes are independent projects just looking for a backer, a few giant ones always manage to slip in there. And though The Expendables 2 isn't exactly a potential blockbuster on the level of some of the films premiering there, like Kung Fu Panda 2, it's one of the few where even a mocked-up promo poster on display will get people excited. So here we have the first teaser poster for The Expendables 2, snapped by First Showing and also available below. Even more surprisingly the film's synopsis is available on the producer Nu Image's official site, and you might want to be wary of spoilers. Check it out below the poster.
The Expendables are back and this time it's personal! After Tool (Mickey Rourke), the heart and soul of the Expendables, is brutally murdered on a mission, his comrades swear to avenge him. They're not the only ones who want blood. Tool’s beautiful young and wild daughter Fiona embarks on her own revenge mission, complicating matters when she is captured and ransomed by a ruthless dictator plotting to destroy a resistance movement. Now Barney and the Expendables must risk everything to save her and humanity.
As much a we'll miss a rambling monologue from Rourke in the center of The Expendables 2, it's probably no surprise to see he'll be written out of the sequel. And can you blame them for throwing a hot chick in the center of the action this time? Jason Statham needs someone to flirt with other than Jet Li, after all. There have been no official casting announcements about The Expendables 2, beyond word in late March that "most of the original cast" is signed on to come back, but it seems safe to expect the central figures of Stallone, Statham, Li, etc. to make a return. Hey, now that Schwarzenegger is heading back to movies in a big way, he could even turn out to have a central role. Chew over that suggestion and anything else in the comments.
