Extended Editions Of The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy To Play In AMC Theaters This June![]() Speaking as someone who watches films for a living, I can tell you that going to the movies isn't always comfortable. Sure, you occasionally get to go to screening rooms with big, cushy chairs, but sitting in a conventional movie theater chair can start getting painful when you're pinned down for a double or even triple feature. That said, the contents of this article may psychologically give you back problems. The One Ring is reporting that the extended editions of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy are going to be shown over a three week span in AMC theaters in June. The event will begin with The Fellowship of the Ring on June 14th, 2011, The Two Towers on June 21st, 2011, and, finally, The Return of the King on June 28th, 2011. For those that are curious, the runtimes of the extended cuts are as follows:
This doesn't sound as much like a geek fest as it does an endurance test. As epic as the films may be, if you can sit through the extended version of The Return of the King without getting up and stretching your legs, then you may in fact be Superman.
