Famed Composer Ennio Morricone To Conduct Ringtones For LG
It's hard to have an extended conversation about film composers without discussing Ennio Morricone. Responsible for what may be the most well-known theme in movie history - from his The Good, The Bad and The Ugly score - the man is a master and easily one of the greatest of all time. In recent years he's largely been working on small and/or foreign films, but what's his next project? Cell phone ringtones.
LG, via their official UK blog, has announced a deal with the famed composer to write music for the company's new line of smart phones. Morricone's work will first be available on the LG Optimus 2X, the world's first dual core cell phone, which will be available in Europe this month. It's not yet known if the phone will be available in the US. Considering how incredible a year it was in film scores, it's sad to hear that Morricone is spending his time making 15-second soundbites that people rarely listen to for more than two seconds. Then again, Edith Piaf's "Non, je ne regrette rien" wakes me up every morning and Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' "In The Hall Of The Mountain King" alerts me whenever somebody's calling. Perhaps I'm not one to judge. |
