With Fox bound and determined to rush X3 into production to compete with Superman, casting news is starting to shape up.

Last week we found out that James Marsden is out, having inexplicably chosen to accept what is little more than a cameo in Superman over a starring role as Cyclops in X3. He needs a new agent.

Along with that rumor came hints that Famke Janssen may also be considering jumping ship. Thankfully, Moviehole has put those to rest. This morning on Australian “Today” show (presumably with a much hotter version of Katie Couric) Famke showed up to plug Hide and Seek. There, she confirmed that with her work on “Nip/Tuck” complete, she will in fact be joining the cast of X-Men 3.

This is a huge relief, since though the always wooden Marsden may be easy to replace, Famke is not. With the plot of X3 likely to center heavily around her character’s transformation into Dark Phoenix, getting Famke to play was essential.

So far, only the two least important cast members are out. Halle Berry and James Marsden we can do without.
