Fanboys Delayed Again![]()
It seems like forever ago that we first reported on the Star Wars obsession film Fanboys. In fact, I looked up the exact date, and we brought you the news on February 3, 2006. Last November we got a trailer, but that was six months ago! Why the hell haven’t I seen this nerdfest yet? Sadly, it now appears that we're going to have to wait at least another half year.
According to TheForce.net, producers were so happy (or unhappy) with the end result that they decided to give director Kyle Newman more money to shoot a few scenes that originally went over budget. This process will push final production back until at least 2008. How lovely. Most critics have blasted the trailer and general tone of this film as a Road Trip homage to greasy-haired virgins. That may be partly true, but who cares? Most dudes have at least a little geek inside of them. Sometimes it’s nice to celebrate that dweeb-assity without fear of high school insults or girls laughing at us. I want my outlet, damnit! Look for this to be in theatres sometime before the ‘aughts end. Fanboys stars Just Friends brother Christopher Marquette, smokin’ hot Kristen Bell (‘Veronica Mars’), and curly-haired actor Dan Fogler. The general plot follows four friends who sojourn across the country to steal a copy of Phantom Menace before it is theatrically released. The whole thing seems a little excessive since you can find dog shit anywhere, but it was a friend’s dying wish. Near death pleas never get shot down, no matter how illogical or foolish. (Writers Note: Previous statement does not apply to Sharon Tate, fat kids, or that friend no one really likes) |
