I'd feel a lot better about Fanboys if it wasn't being distributed by the Weinstein Company. So far, Bob and Harvey's new label has been mostly a purveyor of crap and after a year of stink I'm officially suspicious of anything they release.
But Fanboys is about nerds, Star Wars, and in addition to Kristen Bell in a gold Princess Leia bikini it has William Shatner. I'm obligated to be interested.
The first trailer for Fanboys, Weinstein's Star Wars: Episode I road trip movie is now online. It's not bad, though I kind of get a Grandma's Boy vibe from it. The question in my head is: Is this movie making fun of geeks or embracing them? So far I'm not sure. There's something about it that just doesn't feel authentic.
