The Fantastic Four Dr. Doom Search Narrowed Down To Four Actors

With Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell set to play the titular team in Josh Trank's upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, the production is now turning its attention towards the villainy side of things and have reportedly narrowed down the list of potential Dr. Doom actors to just four actors. According to The Wrap, Sam Riley, Eddie Redmayne, Toby Kebbell and Domhnall Gleeson are currently the names that are being bounced around the production offices of The Fantastic Four.

Like the previously announced cast, the shortlist isn't packed with A-listers, but instead just really talented young actors. That said, it's understandable if you don't recognize their names, so let's take a closer look at what we've seen from them, shall we?

Sam Riley

Riley, who hales from England, first got his breakout back in 2007 starring as Joy Division singer Ian Curtis in the music biopic Control, but has landed some more high-profile projects since then, the most notable being the 2012 adaptation of Jack Kerouac's On The Road (in which Riley played the lead, Sal Paradise). Coming up he will be seen alongside Angelina Jolie in the fantasy tale Maleficent, which is due out this May.

Eddie Redmayne

Also English, Redmayne got his start working in television, but got his first Hollywood gig in 2006 when he had a small role in Robert De Niro's The Good Shepherd. His filmmography since is peppered with period features like Elizabeth: The Golden Age, The Other Boleyn Girl, My Week With Marilyn and Les Miserables, but he recently got his first taste of sci-fi acting in the Wachowski siblings' Jupiter Ascending.

Toby Kebbell

Another English actor (are you starting to see a pattern?) Kebbell has probably the most varied blockbuster experience of the entire group. Early in his career he had a small role in the notorious Oliver Stone flop Alexander, but he has also been featured in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, Wrath of the Titans, and the upcoming Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Warcraft. He also co-starred with Riley in Control and is perhaps best known for his turn as drugged out rocker Johnny Quid in Guy Ritchie's Rocknrolla.

Domhnall Gleeson

Gleeson is the only non-English actor in the bunch (he's Irish), but comes into this race with plenty of franchise cred as well having played Bill Weasley in the last two films of the Harry Potter series. He received rave reviews for his performances in both Joe Wright's Anna Karenina and Richard Curtis' About Time, and has recently completed work on Angelina Jolie's survival tale Unbroken and Alex Garland's sci-fi thriller Ex Machina. Did I mention that he is also Brendan Gleeson's son?
