As if he hadn't earned enough fan goodwill by making Iron Man so good, Jon Favreau has been a real mensch when it comes to keeping in touch with fans and fansites. He recently did a chat with fans via the Los Angeles TimesHero Complex blog, and MTV's Splash Page reported on all the juicy details.
"The sequel is shaping up to incorporate Tonys vision for the future, Favreau wrote during the chat. "What happens after he says I am Iron Man? He announced who he was and we have now officially departed from the standard secret ID superhero. Tony was already famous before the announcement. What would really happen if this went down? Fun to explore.
He also said that Tony's alcoholism, War Machine, Nick Fury and maybe even a female villain will be part of things from now on, and mentioned how Mandarin, the rumored villain for Iron Man 2, will help tie together all the villains of Iron Man's universe. When asked about Iron Man 2's plans to use IMAX, he seemed more hesitant than earlier reports indicated: "[It's] tough to actually shoot in IMAX when you have a CG hero much of the time. The effects become very expensive and may not look as good in the higher resolution. [It] worked very well for ['The Dark Knight'], though.
Hit up Splash Page for the rest of what Favreau had to say. Iron Man 2 is scheduled for an April 2010 release.
