Favreau Wants IMAX, 3D For Iron Man 2![]()
Iron Man 2 is still largely theoretical at this point-- the script isn't even done, as far as we know-- but that hasn't stopped director Jon Favreau from having huge ideas about its release. Collider.com spoke with both Favreau and Stan Lee today, in connection with the DVD release of Iron Man, and Favreau said not only would he love to shoot sections of Iron Man 2 in IMAX, but even 3D is a possibility.
The article doesn't include quotes yet, but Collider's Frosty paraphrases Favreau calling The Dark Knight's use of IMAX footage "a game changer." He also says he'd be willing to try 3D, if he can get the money for it, mentioning how cool the armor would look in all its three-dimensional glory. As for other elements of The Dark Knight, like its convoluted plot or dark mood, Favreau said Nolan can keep those. "He also said he hopes to keep the story relatively simple in the sequel, but he hopes to raise the emotional and technical side of the story. He actually mentioned The Dark Knight and said they can keep that side of the playground. He wants to keep Iron Man light and fun." The article will presumably be updated later with quotes, so we can hear directly from Favreau about his plans. But, as with almost everything he's said about the Iron Man movies so far, Favreau sounds totally spot-on and smart about the character he's now made iconic. |
