New Line has released the final poster for their upcoming, new movie musical version of Hairspray. It’s only marginally different than the previous one, using the same Brady Bunch formula of showing all the characters in squares. This version is black, and shows your more of their faces.
Now that we can clearly see the characters’ faces, I have a question. Is it just me, or is pretty much wearing the worst fat suit ever? The way the guy’s weight has been going up lately, he probably didn’t even need one. But if they’re going to saddle him with extra flab, you’d think Hollywood’s effects wizards could have come up with something that didn’t look like foam rubber. Strange.

this gets my vote for weirdest remake of all time...and the weirdest piece of casting as well. I can still remember Hairspray coming out on video when I was a kid and having no interest in it then but to remake such a film only 20 odd years later just seems pointless especially when its obviously going to be second rate to the original as all remakes are.
