We haven’t given Twilight a ton of attention here at Cinema Blend. I don’t know what it is, but the teen vampire novel doesn’t seem to have a huge audience among us old fogies (when did early 30s become old?). Personally, I haven’t read the novel yet (although I plan to over the summer), so the story hasn’t captivated me enough to be interested.
For those who don’t know Twilight, it follows the adventures of a teenage girl named Bella who finds herself in love with a vampire, Edward Cullen. More than that I’m not too sure of, although the novel is the beginning of a series, so surely there’s plenty of angst and vampire love to come.
The movie hits theaters this December, and MTV has been the go-to spot for all things Twilight, giving teenagers yet another reason to tune into the channel that used to show music videos, or at least the website. Every Tuesday has brought some new Twilight info, although the true prize revealed this week won’t be seen until Sunday.
This Sunday brings the MTV Movies Awards, which will feature the cast of Twilight in attendance. More than that, however, the live broadcast will feature the first completed scene from Twilight, which will then be made available online a few hours later.
So, young vampire fanatics, you know where and when the first true glimpse of Twilight will be made available (pre-show starts at 7:30 EST this Sunday, June 1st). As we get more excited about the adaptation we’ll do our best to bring more information about Stephenie Meyer’s novel being brought to the big screen.

Twilight actually has quite a good deal of "older" fans... check out twilightmoms.com its a pretty good site for older fans :) There are of course many more teens than adults but the series does hold an appeal for those of us who are no longer in high school :)
I agree with gypsy...Twilight has a HUGE amount of adult fans (including me!) I wouldn't wait to read the books if I were you. You're seriously missing out!
I completely agree with gypsywings in that the not so young crowd is loving this book series and the movie to come on Dec. 12th. The Twilight Saga story is a classic story that crosses generations as well as gender. We at TwilightMoms have a wide demographic of fans from young mothers to grandmothers and even some TwilightDads. There is also a TwilightGuy blog that you should visit. As far as waiting for the summer to read the Twilight series (Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn - due Aug. 2nd), my suggestion would be to start NOW! Don't wait!
I'm way older than you Rafe and I've read all three books and loved them. Im sooooo looking forward to the movie and the release of the 4th and final book.
Hello from another TwilightMom! One wonderful thing (among many) about the Twilight series is that is is not age/gender specific. Don't wait for the summer to read these! You'll love them.
the twilight books aren't just geared for teens.... dude people of all ages are into this....and I so recommend you read the series before august when the 4th book of the series (breaking dawn) comes out...
im so excited for the movie..gah!!!
Are you kidding these books are not just being read by teenage girls, but so called older people as well. Just check out TwilightMoms website. There is a whole group of us out there that love these characters and books as much as the young ones.
I totally agree with everyone who commented and said that twilight is for everyone. Im still actually a teen and when everyone in my whole school (all girls private school) went crazy over twilight, i bought all three books at once. Good choice coz after the first book all i wanted to do was read New Moon and Eclipse. After i finished it i made my mom read it and she loved it! She showed it to her friends and they all loved it too! Even some of the boys! I think i speak for everyone -every age, gender- when i say that Breaking Dawn is going to be awesome! The movie as well!
Another TwilightMom here, in love with the books. The story has such universal appeal, it is NOT just another teenage love story. Don't wait to read, because you'll want to read it again and again. Oh and PS, my husband loves it too !
I'm another HUGE fan of Twilight over the age of 21!! I too put off reading the books thinking it didn't hold much appeal to me. Big mistake! I now have my husband, my sister, and her husband reading the books. All three of them are currently reading the third book. We are all very excited about the movie. My advice to you is read the books, then form an opinion. Don't let the "vampire love" scare you off. It's a great series!
I'm another TwilightMom, but it's not just moms who are reading the series. My husband and 18 year-old son have both read all the books and liked them too. They have also seen a few of the MTV videos as well as the teaser trailer, and they both think the movie looks like it's going to be good.
Why deprive yourself? Read the books now!
I'm a TwilightMOM, too. Old enough to be YOUR mother, Rafe and I love Twilight. I have friends, both men and women of all age groups (up to a 92 year old great uncle!) who are reading or have read Twilight and love it.
I highly recommend that you read the books now. Then come check out TwilightMOMs, the Twilight Lexicon and others. Reading the books is only the beginning...
Boy, I hope I don't sound rude, wish you could hear the tone of my voice when I say, "You are a little out of touch." I'm 38 and a Twilight addict. My 40 year old husband, 68 year old mother in law, 49 year old best friend, 35 year old sister, and 43 year old sister in law LOVE the books. It is the number one topic of conversation among women that I come in contact with, whether I know them or not. Very few women (yes, in my age category and older) haven't heard of it, most have read it and I have yet to find anyone who hasn't loved the series. My own books are out on lone divided up between 2 women right now, one who's husband is reading it with her. Just last night I went to a church function and what did we end up talking about? The new edition of Eclipse, and who was buying it Saturday just to get the first chapter from the new book coming out. That group of us consisted of two teen aged girls, a husband and wife in their mid early 30's and myself and a 40 year old man. Twilight, from what I'm hearing, has one of the biggest fan bases of all times, right up there with Harry Potter, Star Wars and Star Trek. I think you'd be wise to include more of this great series and the coming up movie on your site. MTV did an article on Kristin Stewart playing Bella in the new movie and had so many hits on their site that first few days that that's why they started the Twilight Tuesdays. Check it all out. And join the ranks of the "old fogies" that have read the series. I doubt you'll be disappointed.
Talk about old foggies! I'm 50 and have gotten really hooked on the Twilight series. I don't think you ever forget about things like high school, first love, and first serious relationships. It's very refreshing and helps me to escape.
Sorry, Rafe! I'm over 40, and yes, another TwilightMom. I'm actually the one who got my teenage daughter to read the books and what a domino effect that one had! Like they've said before, start reading NOW. You won't regret it!
