Some of you are excited by this story in a way I can only compare to my excitement over the Knight Rider movie. Or at least the mildly shameful excitement I used to feel before they went and started talking about Paul Walker. The rest of you either have no idea at all what Serenity and Firefly are or like me know but didn’t care enough to support them as a TV show, otherwise it’d still be on the air and we wouldn't be talking about making a movie. You can thank those of us in the indifferent crowd later.

Cancelled or not, the crew of Joss Whedon’s “Firefly” is resuming their quarter-season journey in theaters in the upcoming movie Serenity. The latest word on production comes from FireflyMovie.com where series and now movie creator Joss Whedon posted a few suspect updates on the message board. If you sort out the cruel jokes from the facts, you’ll discover that not only was Sunday their first day of filming, but that Universal has given them a release date. Serenity will drop into theaters and kick you into a rocket engine after you surrender next year on April 22.
