Rob Marshall is returning to musicals for the first time since the success of Chicago and he’s doing it by paying homage to Fellini. His new movie Nine is a musical version of the 1963 Frederico Fellini film 8 ½ and it stars the best acting talent Hollywood money can buy. Daniel Day-Lewis stars as struggling filim director Guido Contini with Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Judi Dench, Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, and none other than Sophia Loren filling out the ultra-fem supporting cast.
Entertainment Tonight played host to the first ever footage from the film this week, and it looks, well it looks a lot like Chicago honestly. Is that a good thing? Watch it for yourself, and decide:
