First Image From My Sucky Teen Romance![]()
You may not know Emily Hagins by name, by you probably heard of the 12-year-old a few years back when she wrote and was producing her very own zombie horror movie, as chronicled in the documentary Zombie Girl. Well, she hasn’t given up her dream of making films and it looks like her latest, My Sucky Teen Romance, might just be the film that launches her into Hollywood at age 17.
She’s currently mid-production on MSTR, a teen comedy with vampires, and has sent the first still from it over to /film. Hagins has set her film during the Twilight convention, where “real deal” vampires can easily mingle with their prey for easy meals. “I want the characters to be real geeks– they know about Twilight and the teen vampire phenomenon. But these vampires are the real deal, and more than everyday teenagers can take on. The comedy comes from the awkwardness of regular kids dealing with monsters who have been over-romanticized in recent pop culture. This is a teen comedy written, directed, and acted by teenagers. It is a unique opportunity to capture the genuine teen experience.” The image gives us a brief look at what effects guru Doug Field (Machete) has created with teammate Sarah Benson, and it looks pretty cool. A mix between Twilight and 30 Days of Night, the vamp looks like she could play nice until she picks her target and devours them. Check out the image below or in full-res over at /film. ![]() |
