After what seemed like ages in pre-production-- at one point they planned to shoot last spring before delaying production for nearly a year-- Jack the Giant Killer has finally gotten underway with filming in rural England. The UK tabloid The Daily Mail, seemingly on hand every time a celebrity leaves the house, snapped some photos from the set of Ewan McGregor and Eddie Marsan done up in some pretty serious looking armor.

Both actors will be part of the group of knights who accompany Jack (Nicholas Hoult) on his journey to free the princess (Eleanor Tomlinson) from the evil giant. Check out the image below and help me figure out what exactly they're going for with that haircut and goatee for McGregor. Is he some kind of metrosexual knight? Is his grooming somehow supposed to contrast with Marsan's hideous mane? Presumably we won't be focusing so much on the hair when Jack the Giant Killer hits theaters on June 15, 2012, but for now I'm a little perplexed.
