The story behind John Hillcoat's The Wettest County In The World has to be one of my favorite one's running. Back in January of last year, the project, which Hillcoat had been developing for a while, completely fell apart due to budget issues and looked like it was never going to get made. Then, twelve months later, almost like magic, the project came back to life and announced a cast that includes Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Guy Pearce, Gary Oldman and Mia Wasikowska. Now the project is in production, and we have the first shot of LaBeouf in costume.

Posted by fansite Shiantology (which for some reason calls the movie Wettest Country instead of Wettest County), the image has the young actor decked out in 1920s garb and posing with a couple kids. Based on the book by Matt Bondurant, the movie is about three bootlegging brothers during the prohibition era who ran liquor out of Franklin County, Virginia.
