As a kid, Soundwave was always my favorite Transformer. Granted, he never really made any sense. I have no idea how a 12 inc tall boom box transformers into a 50ft robot, but maybe that’s just part of how awesome he was. Besides, he had a really cool voice and ejected mini-robots from his chest. Many a day on the playground was spent with my hand over my mouth robotically intoning: Ravage eject!

Unfortunately that’s all over with now. Soundwave will be in the next Transformers movie Revenge of the Fallen, and Empire has a first look at him via the toy version they’ll be selling to kids who will now never have the pleasure of pretending to be a walking, talking, tape deck. The new Soundwave, much as they did with Megatron in the first film, is now a generic, confusing looking, alien jet.
