First Look At Chris Hemsworth As THOR!
The next in the ever-shortening list of films leading up to the Avengers is the Kenneth Branagh helmed Thor, and everyone is itching to see what the Shakespearean actor/director can do with Marvel's Norse God of thunder. While this very first image of the film's star, Star Trek's Chris Hemsworth, won't show off much other than his outfit and beard, it's still an impressive first look, which dropped over at Yahoo! Movies.
Many were skeptical at Hemsworth's casting since he isn't quite as big and bulgy as the Stan Lee creation, but he seems to have filled out the less-silly-than-expected chest plate and scale mail. The overly exaggerated comic book characteristics have been downplayed, but the spirit of the character is still here in full. See below for a comparison of the two:
The disk plates, the wicked scales and the cape are all in play, and of course the trademark blond hair and beard to round out the character. The only change is that they've given it a bit more of a futuristic fair. All that's missing are his helmet and hammer and we'd have a full-on Thor. Expect more images to start slowly trickling in of any one of a laundry list of stars who are filling out the cast for Branagh. More as soon as we get them. Below is the higher rez for those of you looking to make this your desktop background. ![]() What do you think Thor fans?
