First Official Image From The Karate Kid Remake The Karate Kid remake is coming whether you like it or not and People has the first official still from the movie for you to check out. It features Jaden Smith as Dre Parker, an American boy forced to move to China. There, he befriends not Mr. Miyagi, but Jackie Chan’s Mr. Han, a maintenance man who teaches Dre karate. Sadly, the photo doesn’t show the guys in action but, rather, having a sentimental moment.

Smith says he had to go through four months of training with the film’s fight coordinator, Master Wu, in order to be prepared to step into Ralph Macchio’s shoes. Chan said Smith was all business and had a great attitude. “He took the training very seriously. I was very impressed with him." We all know Chan has some ass-kicking abilities of his own and he was more than willing to share his skills with his young co-star. “Jaden had a lot of respect for me as his teacher, even off the set," says Chan. "He is professional as many adult actors who have been in the business for years.” The experience film The Karate Kid was far from fleeting. "His dad told me that Jaden had changed," says Chan. "When he takes his shoes off, he doesn't throw them in the corner, but puts them away neatly!"

That’s great for mom and dad, Will and Jada – actually it’s probably just good for their maid – but will his professionalism translate on film? I hope so, otherwise there are going to be some very unhappy fans of the 1984 original looking to deliver crane kick to the face.
