With the Sundance Film Festival right around the corner, the first image from one of the most anticipated flicks on the lineup, The Runaways, has hit web. Naturally, it shows off stars Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning as Joan Jett and Cherie Currie, respectively. Collider also posted the film’s official synopsis:

Of all the bands to come out of the 1970s Los Angeles music scene, The Runaways are by far the most uniquely fascinating. This is partially due to their music but more so to the fact that they were teenage girls whose wild and reckless lifestyle was the stuff of legend.
Focusing on the duo of guitarist/vocalist Joan Jett and lead vocalist Cherie Currie as they navigate a rocky road of touring and record-label woes, the film chronicles the band’s formation as well as their meteoric rise under the malevolent eye of an abusive manager.

Thanks to countless photos and New Moon promotional appearances, we’ve known KStew can rock Jett’s black mullet. There have been a handful of photos of Fanning as Currie as well, but none of which suggested she could pull off the rock-n-roll angst quite like her co-star. Now there’s proof they can both look pretty angry, but we’ll have to wait until after the festival, which runs from January 21st to the 31st, to find out if the ladies can stop playing vampire and rock as hard as The Runaways.
