Getting excited about Avatar Day? It's coming up on August 21, and it'll be most everyone's first chance to see what on earth James Cameron is up to with this movie about giant blue creatures and outer space.

To whet your appetite, Slashfilm has gotten their hands on the first-ever Fox approved still from the film, in which Sam Worthington's soldier character Jake Sully sits in front of the tank that houses his avatar, the figure he will inhabit in order to move about the world of the alien planet Pandora. We got a good look at half of the avatar's face in this poster, as you may recall.

You can check out the full version of what you see above over at Slashfilm. Hopefully this means Fox is about to become a lot more forthcoming with images from the film, and we can all be excited about this movie for a reason, rather than just accepting Cameron's word that the movie will be awesome.
