First Pics From Halloween

First Pics From Halloween As anyone who has read my reports for any amount of time knows, I love me some Rob Zombie. One of my first assignments for this site was reviewing House Of 1000 Corpses, which I gave a positive (if bemused) review. When he made The Devil’s Rejects and started to actually get some credit I was tickled pink. I was (and still am) convinced that Zombie is the real deal, a truly great horror director something we haven’t seen since the eighties.

In fact I was so happy that the fact that he was remaking Halloween, one of the best films from one of my favorite directors, was a cause for interest rather then the abject fear that would have been the reaction from anyone else. Then… well we all know what happened. The AICN script review read like a catalogue of things that Zombie didn’t understand about Halloween, and those things where frighteningly numerous.

Now on My Space, the scourge of our society, Zombie has posted the first pics from Halloween and they look surprisingly not bad. The fact that Zombie has rewritten large chunks of the dreaded script also make me feel better about myself. Still despite all of this I would be lying if I said I was totally positive toward the Zombie remake the way I was before. The dread and the interest have mixed to form drinterd. And I’ll have to wait until next August to find out which instinct is correct.
