First Poster For Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom Is Painted And Gorgeous
I might be a little biased, seeing as I'm already very much looking forward to the new film from Wes Anderson, but this poster for Moonrise Kingdom is heart-burstingly beautiful. Yes it's twee and overproduced and a little goofy, but that's Wes Anderson for you, and if you like his previous work this poster is right in that ballpark. Check it out below.
The poster premiered at Moviefone, where they point out that these two kids are the film's protagonists, Sam and Suzy, who run away together on some sort of adventure. Of course if you've seen the movie's justly celebrated trailer, you already knew that, and that the adults in their lives-- played by all those big names you see on the poster-- go chasing after them. The tone of the trailer was comic and nostalgic with a twinge of that Wes Anderson cool, and the fact that the movie focuses on kids makes me hope the movie will lean toward the open-hearted whimsy of The Fantastic Mr. Fox, and less of the navel-gazing we found in The Darjeeling Limited.
Moonrise Kingdom opens on May 25, bringing some Oscar-season quality to summer movie time. Let us know if you're excited about the return of Wes Anderson in the comments.
