The Harry Potter films are at their best when things get dark. Allowing the series to distance itself from the mindless, happy pablum that other films force down kids throats, making the themes and elements darker allows for greater drama and more impact. From what we've seen of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, it may be the darkest yet.

The first TV spot for Part 1 of the two part finale has come online and it looks utterly fantastic and epic. Everything shaded in dark green and plenty of screen time for Voldemort, things have never looked bleaker for the gang and it's hard to be anything less than excited.
