First Teaser Image For Star Trek: The Next? image
The next Star Trek movie is a long, long way off. The people who are supposed to be making it are taking their time about it. Not because they care deeply for Star Trek and want to get it right, but because they’re all using the success of the Star Trek reboot to get them all sorts of jobs doing other things, which have distracted them from doing the only thing they’re involved in that anyone really cares about: Star Trek. So it’s pretty unlikely we’ll see anything even remotely related to the next Star Trek movie any time soon, since they don't seem to be working on making it at all. Still, there’s this image floating around which some are claiming is a teaser for Star Trek: The Next.

Here’s the image, which first originated at Collider and where you can see it even bigger:

There’s virtually no chance that this is a teaser image for Star Trek: The Next, and an almost 100% chance that it’s a fake. Still, I’m showing it to you because, well, looking at the Enterprise is good. Besides, it’s my hope that maybe the people involved with making this thing will see how excited the world is for the next installment in relation to how unexcited we all are about their televised remake of Hawaii Five-O. No one is going to remember you for Hawaai Five-O. When you’re dead and gone, Star Trek will still be at the top of your list of credits. So how about making another one?

Don’t just take my word for it. UGO’s Jordan Hoffman did a pretty good job of stating a case for where the people behind the next Trek are going wrong a few months ago, and since then Lindelof, Orci, and Kurtzman have added another dozen non-Trek distractions to their to do list. In case you missed it, rewatch his rant below. Feel the nerd rage:
