First Trailer For Bill Nighy/Rachel Weisz Spy Thriller Page Eight Isn't Exactly Thrilling

Generally speaking, a movie's trailer should be a reflection of the movie's genre. If you're making a comedy, the advertising should make the audience laugh. If you're making an action film, the advertising should show off a lot of ass-kicking. If you're making a thriller, the advertising should be...thrilling. That said, watch the first trailer for Page Eight, the newest film from writer/director David Hare, courtesy of Twitch.

Where are the thrills? Where's the excitement? Where's the suspense? This trailer has absolutely none. Sure, the cast is absolutely amazing, including names such as Bill Nighy, Rachel Weisz, Michael Gambon, Ralph Fiennes, Ewen Bremner, Felicity Jones and Judy Davis, but this video is far too slow and they score is not even close to appropriate. Hopefully this isn't a great representation of the full movie, otherwise ushers are going to have to go into every screening to poke sleeping movie-goers with broom handles. Basically what I'm trying to say is that this film could take a lesson or two from Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy (maybe they can throw in a line about a spy killing their man in Istanbul).
