We’ve known for a while that since Nic Cage is battling an insurmountable debt he’ll be taking just about everything that’s being offered to him, even if it’s mindless schlock grasping at every 3D gimmick in the book. Enter Drive Angry, the story of a man on the hunt for the people who killed his daughter and stole his grandchild. And of course he’s taking care of business while driving around (angrily, I expect) in a beat up old muscle car. Sound cliched? Well I don’t think the filmmakers give a shit what you think.

My Bloody Valentine 3D director Patrick Lussier has set out to make a flashy, gimmicky joyride and that’s exactly what this trailer looks like. Giving Nic Cage ridiculous one-liners and having him walk away from explosions in slo-mo is one way to tell your audience, “Hey. I just wanted to have a good time, and hopefully you will too.” The trailer, while only 30 seconds, is action packed and full of the aforementioned Cage-isms like, “Hell already is walking the Earth.”

Our own Katey Rich saw the footage shown at Comic Con and claims it’s some of the best live action 3D since “well, My Bloody Valentine,” so don’t expect too many headaches next February. In the mean time, scope out the trailer below.
