Jonah Hill has been in two very funny movies this year. He and Justin Long both have cameos in another one, Walk Hard in a few weeks. Steve Zahn has been the best part of random comedies for a long, long time (if you didn’t love him in That Thing You Do!, you weren’t paying attention).
So now the three of them are going to go waste all the goodwill they’ve earned over the years by starring in Strange Wilderness, which has a red band trailer available for viewing here. This is the kind of movie that includes a joke about a turkey getting attached to a guy’s crotch in the trailer, and considers the mere appearance of a bong to be a joke. When that’s the best stuff you have to show us, you really ought to consider why you’re releasing this thing at all.
Strange Wilderness comes out Februrary 1, and while it’s probably better than Meet the Spartans, which comes out the week before, it’s just going to taint my good feelings about Superbad. Jonah Hill, why you gotta be so cruel?
