Well it’s confirmed. I’m going back to Comic Con this summer. While others go to network and hobnob with celebrities, I’ll be there for one reason and one reason alone: The first ever trailer for Tron 2.

io9 go the scoop during the NYCC panel for Radical Studios in which it was revealed that the first real trailer for Tron 2 will debut at the San Diego Comic Con this summer. They say, “Joseph Kosinski is directing Tron 2, and last year he did amazingly well at [San Diego Comic-Con] where he showed that test and had 6000 people show up. This year, he's going to have a trailer, not of the entire film, but just what he's been shooting.”

The footage they’re talking about from last year was a piece of test footage. It’s not something which will actually be in the film, so whatever they show this summer will be the first real look anyone has had at the film.

Point of order: Their claim that 6,000 people showed up to see Tron 2 footage is completely bogus. Yes 6,000 people at Comic Con saw the footage, but none of them were there specifically to see it, because none of them knew it was coming. The footage was tacked on to the end of the Disney panel, there was no announcement indicating that it would be shown beforehand and anyone who saw it, saw it just because they happened to be sitting there in the right chair when it flashed on screen.
