Oh, the jokes for a movie titled Not Into You just write themselves. Do I say I’m “not into” the movie or take offense that the movie isn’t “into” me (just how low would your self-esteem have to be for that)? It looks like we’ll all have plenty of time to think stuff up as Not Into You, a movie based on the best-selling book, heads into production next month with Ken Kwapis (License to Wed) at the helm.
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that quite a few people are into Not Into You, despite what the movie’s name is telling us. Drew Barrymore, for one, who is both starring and producing the film through her Flower Films company. Others into the movie (or at least into negotiations) include Jennifer Connelly, Kevin Connelly, Bradley Cooper, Justin Long, and Ginnifer Goodwin.
The movie involves a series of interconnecting storylines, with Jennifer Connelly’s character stuck in a waning marriage with Bradley Cooper’s, and Cooper having an affair with another as-yet-uncast woman who is being pursued by Kevin Connelly. Meanwhile Goodwin’s character is stalking Kevin Connelly and being manipulated by Long in a My Fair Lady experiment. Meanwhile, through it all, Barrymore plays a character confused by the whole damn dating process. The result is being referred to as a “Traffic of comedy.”
Not Into You starts production in September. Although there is no announced release date yet, I’m sure we have plenty of time to work on those “not into you jokes”… unless, of course, New Line gets wise and forces a name change. That would figure. I still have plenty of Tonight, He Comes jokes that will be worthless when John Hancock hits theaters.
