Dimension films is making a movie called Patriots, and they’ve hired a huge cast. They describe Patriots as an “inspirational sports drama”, which makes me think at some point Tyler Perry may show up wearing a dress. So far though, he’s not listed in the cast. They have however hired Forest Whitaker, Taraji P. Henson, Isaiah Washington, Robbie Jones, Jackie Long, Eric Hill, Bow Wow, Lil’ Wayne, Irma Hall, Jared Einsohn J.B. Smoovem and Chyna McClain to star in it.

Here’s Dimension’s plot description: “Patriots, based on a true story, is an inspirational sports film set in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, where Al Collins, a high school basketball coach in Marrero, Louisiana, assembles a team of players who had previously attended five different schools and leads them on the path to the state championships.”

They’re already shooting in New Orleans, which in the wake of Katrina has become little Hollywood as activist filmmakers move their productions there to help boost the local economy. In this case, at least the movie’s about Louisiana.
