Though Four Christmases looks like your typical romantic comedy with a Vince Vaughn wrench thrown in, its direct, Seth Gordon, is most definitely the romantic comedy type. He broke out big with the documentary The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters, and for his next project he's taking on amateur criminals who rip off the Kentucky Derby.

So I guess it's like Ocean's Eleven with a hankering for mint juleps? The Hollywood Reporter says Suicide Squad stars a desperate con man out on parole who, for whatever reason, recruits some two-bit hoods to rip off the most famous horse race in the world. Again, about as different from a romantic comedy about Christmas as you can get. The upcoming project actually gives me hope that Four Christmases might be more than it seems to be-- a guy with interests in this varied might just be willing to step outside the romantic comedy box.
