Fox And WB Settling Watchmen Deal As We Speak![]()
We're all pretty much just guessing about the closed-door conversations going on between Fox and Warner Bros. right now, with the two studios apparently finally willing to come up with an agreement that lets Watchmen see the light of day. But The Hollywood Reporter is assuming that no news is good news. Their headline today reads "Fox, Warners 'close' to 'Watchmen' settlement," quoting an anonymous source who's apparently in on the wheeling and dealing.
The two studios were talking in private on Monday, and apparently Warner Bros. is not pushing their request to move up the court hearing date on which the judge would decide whether Fox can block the release. That suggests the two studios will work it out on their own, sparing the judge the duty of whisking Watchmen away forever and ever. So, good news! Nothing is settled yet, and presumably someone could throw a hissy fit and throw this whole thing off the rails again. But just as we were hoping all along, the two studios have come up with ways to go about this reasonably, and no doubt everyone will win as a result of the deal. |
