Fox Searchlight Goes For Another Quirky Comedy, The F-Word![]()
Fox Searchlight may branch out into other genres, like the musty biopic Amelia or the animated wonder Fantastic Mr. Fox, but they know their bread and butter: quirky, candy-colored comedies, usually romantic ones, and frequently starring attractive young white people. From Little Miss Sunshine to Juno to (500) Days of Summer, these guys have their formula down pat, and they don't seem to be giving up on it any time soon.
The next one, according to The LA Times, will be The F-Word, about a young man and woman trying to balance both friendship and romance-- the "f-word" is technically "friendship," but I imagine another four-letter one gets involved too. The director will be Alex Holdridge, whose In Search of a Midnight Kiss got very little mainstream attention, but won the John Cassavetes Award at the 2009 Independent Spirits, and was named by the National Board of Review as one of the 10 best indies of 2008. |
