Fox seems to be doing their part in the healing process of Mexico’s recent epidemic by clearing the release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. But since I’m sure the last thing Mexicans are worried about right now is when they’ll get to see the new X-Men movie, Fox has further arranged for Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman, to make an appearance.

As reported by the Associated Press, 20th Century Fox has decided to release their blockbuster, which was postponed earlier this month due to the Swine Flu, in Mexico on May 26, 2009.

Hugh Jackman will also be doing a press tour in the country to promote the film. Jackman stated on his Twitter page that he wants “to provide a moment of fun escapism and a treat for some of the loyal fans of the comic." Last I checked, you can mentally “escape” from something like an ailing economy but it’s a lot harder to forget about a disease-ridden country, even with a movie ripe with simulated violence and a ton of explosions. But who am I to nitpick?

I can’t help but imagine Jackman suited up in his Wolverine attire fighting off oversized pigs infected with the deadly Swine Flu. Now that’s an X-Men movie that I’d be first in line to see. How about it, Brett Ratner?
