The rumors are true. Woody Allen will borrow the President of France’s leading lady for his next film. Carla Bruni-Sarkozy will join Marion Cotillard, Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams on the set in Paris this summer.

As it’s been for the past few months, we still know nothing about the plot, nothing about the roles the cast will play and don’t even know the film’s title. However, as reported by THR, some of that should change later this week, namely the mysterious title, release date and details of Bruni-Sarkozy’s role. Bruni-Sarkozy tasted success in the music industry, but has only appeared in a single film, Robert Altman’s Pret-a-Porter back in 1994.

Funny thing is, just two weeks ago reports ran rampant that Allen decided to go back on his word and not cast the first lady. He was even quoted as saying, “Carla Bruni is not a woman who earns her living as an actress. She is a first lady […] I have to take account of the risks that could be.” According to The Daily Beast, Bruni-Sarkozy was originally vying for the part that now belongs to Cotillard. The article also pointed out that Bruni-Sarkozy would still get a cameo. So is this announcement merely for that bit role or was she awarded a more serious part? Considering THR uses the word ‘appear’ to describe her involvement, I’m going with the former.
