Free From Earl, Jason Lee Goes Back To Break Up John And Yoko![]()
Jason Lee is currently without a steady job for the first time in years, now that My Name Is Earl has been cancelled and Lee can finally shave that mustache once and for all. He's got a couple of TV gigs in mind, including some kind of live-action project for Adult Swim, but he's also planning a feature directing debut, using the kind of time-travel plot that you scheme about during freshman English, but decide is too stupid before the bell rings.
In Get Back, two Beatles fans will travel back in time to 1966 London, where one of them will get stuck in a love triangle between John Lennon and Yoko. That's right-- before Yoko has a chance to break up the Beatles, you can break up John and Yoko! THR doesn't say whether or not Lee will have a role in the film, but I wouldn't really oppose his participation so long as he doesn't play Lennon. What I really oppose is the idea-- when the world is without a decent Beatles biopic, why do we have to get them involved in some kind of history-tampering comedy? Time travel is fun and all, but really better when you leave famous people out of it. Back to the Future was smart enough to only get Chuck Berry involved over the phone, but something tells me a love triangle between John, Yoko and some random dude from the future won't be nearly so simple. |
