Full Harry Potter 6 Cast List! Earlier today we started hearing rumors about possible new additions to the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince cast, and so Warner Brothers has gone ahead and spilled the beans on everything.

They’ve just sent us a complete, official cast list for the sixth Harry Potter film. Of course all the regulars are back, but new additions include Jim Broadbent as Potions Professor Horace Slughorn and Helen McCrory as Narcissa Malfoy. The WB has also confirmed that as rumored, 20-year-old Jessie Cave joins the cast as Ron Weasley’s girlfriend Lavender Brown. Another young newcomer is 9-year-old Hero Fiennes Tiffin as age 11 Tom Riddle.

Here’s the full press release, to allow you Potterphiles time to pour over the details:

“Casting has been completed on the much-anticipated sixth installment of the Warner Bros. Pictures Harry Potter film franchise, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” The announcement was made by Jeff Robinov, President of Production, Warner Bros. Pictures.

David Yates, who directed this year’s summer blockbuster “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” returns to direct “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” David Heyman, the producer of all of the Harry Potter films, is producing the film, together with David Barron. Screenwriter Steve Kloves, who scripted the first four installments of the film franchise, is adapting the screenplay based on the book by J.K. Rowling. David Heyman said, “I am really excited that David Yates and all our cast are back for the sixth film and welcome some wonderful new additions to our ensemble. We all share a commitment to Jo Rowling and to Harry Potter fans around the world to keep making these films the best they can be and, as we head into the final installments, I can promise that this level of commitment will not waver.”

Once again heading the cast, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson are reprising their roles as young wizards Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, who are facing new challenges and dangers in the wake of Lord Voldemort’s return. They will be reunited with returning Harry Potter cast members, including Helena Bonham Carter, David Bradley, Robbie Coltrane, Warwick Davis, Tom Felton, Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman, Maggie Smith, Natalia Tena, Julie Walters and David Thewlis, as well as Evanna Lynch, Matthew Lewis and Bonnie Wright.

Two award-winning actors are joining the film’s all-star cast in their first Harry Potter film. Academy Award winner Jim Broadbent (“Iris,” “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe”) has been set to play Potions Professor Horace Slughorn, who gives Harry an old Potions textbook that had once belonged to the Half-Blood Prince, which proves invaluable to the young wizard. Award-winning actress Helen McCrory (“Becoming Jane,” “The Queen”) will play Narcissa Malfoy, mother to Draco Malfoy and sister to the evil Bellatrix Lestrange.

Additionally, several young newcomers will be making their feature film debuts in “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” Jessie Cave has won the role of Lavender Brown, who has eyes for Ron Weasley. Nine-year-old Hero Fiennes Tiffin is playing the role of the young Tom Riddle at age 11, while 16-year-old Frank Dillane is playing the teenage Riddle, who is already on the path to becoming the evil Lord Voldemort.

In “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” Lord Voldemort is tightening his grip on both the Muggle and Wizard worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that dangers may even lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching.

Two-time Oscar nominee Bruno Delbonnel (“A Very Long Engagement,” “Amelie”) will serve as the director of photography, marking his first Harry Potter film. He will be joined by returning Harry Potter veterans, including production designer Stuart Craig, editor Mark Day, costume designer Jany Temime, creature & make-up effects designer Nick Dudman, special effects supervisor John Richardson, visual effects supervisor Tim Burke and composer Nicholas Hooper.

“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” will be released on November 21, 2008, by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

they are ruining the 6th movie as we speak. so much is being taken out, including but not limited to: the dursleys, the muggle prime minister (which is the first chapter of the book, fleur delacour, lucius malfoy, Bill and Percy Wealey (and bill is big in the end!!!), and they havent even casted anyone to play rufus scrimgeour, the new Minister if Magic!!! Did the screenwriter even READ the books? Has he ever read them? i mean come on!!! and the director!!! he ruined the last movie, took sooooo much out, and now hes fixing to mess this one up!!! boo david yates!!!! we need either Chris Columbus back, or Peter jackson of the LOTR trilogy. he did those books justice, and they were all atleast 3 hours long!!!

  1. Kristen Says:

Cyndi, I think your arguments are unfair, the books get bigger and bigger with each of them.

The directors HAVE to cut out any slow paced scenes, ones that don't pertain any interest. The Dursleys arn't that big of a deal, The Muggle Prime Minister has very tiny parts even in the book. Fleur Delacour comes in big next time, Lucius Malfoy isn't a favourite of most fans [unless they love the death eaters, then nevermind] Remember, Percy left the Weasleys and is ignoring them, so, it's only fair, he gets limited parts. Bill, barely even in the other books at times. What does it matter if no one was casted yet to play Rufus? The movie isn't set to come out until at LEAST November, nothing is set in stone, as of the characters. It's not always the directors who cut scenes out anyways, J.K Rowling gets asked as she views the movie as well. If they cut someone out, she has a say in it. She has a say in every part of the movie, it is her Franchise after all. She created it.

Besides, most people won't sit through a three hour or longer movie, I love the Harry Potter Series, and I am an avid reader, but, If I want the whole story, I know not to rely on the movies, I'd much rather read the books, and have it come alive in my mind, versus, watching someone elses version come alive. I mean, the movies are fantastic, but We don't need Chris Columbus or Peter Jackson to re-direct any movies. They're all different directors and have different ways of doing alot of things, which includes movies. Besides, You and I, we're just obscure fans, they won't take our opinions into view. So just shut up and enjoy what you get :D

My heart goes with u guys...There are so many deleted characters in the movies of Harry Potter from the beginning. I thought first it was okay coz of the budget!!! but come on guys... Harry Potter makes Box Office Hits and why not hire more actors or actress to play the roles in the movie??? Im excited to see the other members of the Weasley family as they appear on Book 4 but never in the movie. A bit dissapointed on Book 5 movie coz Bill & Charlie was not in the movie as Dolby the Elf. But what can we do now??? the script has been made but hopefully on the last movie of HP 7, they will give better judgement in the movie. Hope to see the complete set of Weasley w/ Oliver Wood & a lot more character from the Book Series...
    GOD Bless y'all

  1. anayika Says:

I agree with cyndi cuz the 5th movie did miss out a hell of a lot..and at the end of the movie, there wasn't any action like it said in the book. Don't get me wrong, the settings and the characters and everything was good, but the action wasnt. I think the 6th movie will b gr8 cuz
    1. the book is shorter
    2. it has awesome actors/actresses joining
but i think them missing out bill is horrible

  1. benjamin+evannalynch=love Says:

awesome, well im glad evanna lynch is playing the role of luna because she is perfect for the role!! I LOVE HER.

  1. grawp Says:

i think its actually annoying that bill weasley is not in the books.are u telling me that he will just be introduced in the last movie or is he not going to be in the book at all? i mean thay included narcissa malfoy who just has to do the unbreakable curse its so annoying! i agree withcindy. and screw you kristen we should have a say because we're fans/.

  1. gaby Says:

i agree i like the first two movies they were good and the third one was alright but the fourth was terriable they changed so much and left ou so much i understand leaving out a little but to change the book was unacceptable. the 5th one was okay but they too left out alot and changed stuff like cho being the one to tell on the DA when it was marrita her friend. i hope to god that the 6th one will make up for the last couple of movies but i wil;l always be a harry potter fan

  1. PIXY Says:

I think that the movies should be as long as ot takes to fill in every detail that are in the books, if people don't want to watch a really long movie then they're not a real Harry potter fan. But by not putting in every detail they miss so many important parts that are in the books. All i have to say is they better make the 7th one long and breath taking like it is in the book it better make me cry at the end or i will be Pissed!!!!!!!!! lol. Who agrees with me?? I LOVE HP!!!! <3

  1. Brendal Says:

I agree with the fact that they should put every detail into the movies, but we should also think about the people who have never read them before. If we gave them all the details in the movies, then whats the point of reading them then? Some kids are still to young to read them, but they are waiting till the day when their attention span has increased enough for them to read the whole way through. But I still like the idea of haveing every detail in the movies though, thats what made the lord of the rings so great. I love HP<3

  1. Kay Says:

I completely agree with Cyndi!!!!! I started reading these books way before the movies came out and i pretty happy with the first 2 but then they started going downhill from there. I am really disappointed in the movie makers. if i were J.K. Rowling I would be complaining non-stop. I know she had to sell the rights and all that but my gosh shes just sitting back and doing nothing! And i am mad at her for killing off so many ppl in the 7th book anyway. they should totally have done like the LOTR movies.

  1. hello Says:

i agree with gaby the 4th was ok but the 5th was smushed together.in the beging i didnt know if it was the right movie.

  1. adam Says:

I am divided. I agree that some parts of the books need to be cut out. On the other hand, the 5th movie jumped from scene to scene so quickly, and missed so much detail that could have been added by adding just seconds to the movie that I felt as if I were watching napoleon dynamite. That is to say a movie with random purpose. Try to stick to the book mr. Yates. We as fans need the new minister in the movie, we need to see all of the memories that harry goes through, we need to see felix felices, we need to see more quidditch there has been none for 2 movies now (not counting the world cup I mean with harry in it), we need certain parts of the 6th book in the movie otherwise what's the point. There have been mistakes, that's what you get when you start a movie series before the books have been completed, like dumbledores lighter, where was that in the 5th movie that plays a big part in the 7th, I know it was in the 1st 10 seconds of the 1st movie but still, next, 2 remaining weasley brothers are nowhere, bill and charlie, they are important, then there is mundungus fletcher, who, without him mad eye doesn't die. Simple mistakes that the fans notice, true fans of the series will spend their time frustrated about these mistakes and not enjoy what movie there is, and when that happens you as film makers have failed, movies are for entertainment, but if the majority of major fans are not entertained, but disappointed then you have failed. DO NOT FAIL US AGAIN.

  1. Rachel Says:

I agree with all of you that believe the movies need more details! I also agree that Chris Columbus should come back because the first 2 movies were clearly directed the best, from the music to the scenes. The 5th movie jumped from scene to scene too fast, I agree. Seriously who would complain if it was a long movie, look at Titanic, geeze. I do know the 7th will be split into 2 movies, thank goodness. But I am mad about Bill and Fleur not being mentioned in the 6th, considering they are important characters. ALso they should not cut out the Dursleys because it shows the importance of him returning the next year! They leave too much out, makes me angry! The movies are good, but no where even close to as good as the books!

  1. dizziee Says:

guys guys guys....... the 6th film is gonna be good, i agree with a lot of what you said, Bill should definately be there, but in my opinion i think the 3rd film was made the best, especially how they completely changed hogwarts grounds. As for the 7th film they're making it into 2 movies to fit everything in which should be good. the 6th film should be good and they have got quidditch back as ron has to try out for the team (even though this part happened in the 5th book) also i'm looking forward to how they show harry liking Ginny....... But Yates definately needs to make the 6th film longer. at least 2 1/2 hours...... They need to sort out the fight scenes as well...... i mean in the 5th film when they're all flying..... annoys me because thats like what voldemort does in the 7th book and everyone shocked by it.......i hope they pull off the ending better as well!!!!

all we can do is hope!!!!!
