Hollywood’s next wave of fantasy movies seems to be obsessing over the idea of bringing stories to life by telling them. Adam Sandler is doing it in Bedtime Stories and Brendan Fraser is doing it in Inkheart.
Bedtime Stories is taking a more real world, Bruce Almight approach, while Brendan Fraser’s movie is going whole hog with the CGI and launching its cast into another on of those now fairly standard, sort of like LOTR, fantasy worlds. It doesn’t just use that LOTR look, it even uses some of the cast, with Andy Serkis as the villain.
