G.I. Joe 2 And Hugo Cabret Get Release Dates![]()
It was only last week that Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner told MTV that while a "great idea" exists for G.I. Joe 2, they're in no hurry to get the film made as it isn't "really great" enough. Since that day, Paramount began talks with Jon M. Chu to direct the movie and Rachel Nichols, who played Scarlett in the first film, said that only Duke, Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow will be returning for the sequel. Not moving fast enough for you? Now the movie has a release date.
The studio has officially announced that G.I. Joe 2 - it's unclear if that will be the sequels final title - will be released on August 10, 2012, according to THR. The report also seems to confirm comments made by Nichols that some characters won't be returning, saying that the movie "will likely undergo extensive casting changes." The same report also announced that Martin Scorsese's new film, the 3D adaptation of Hugo Cabret, will hit theaters on November 23, 2011 where it will compete with Arthur Christmas, The Muppets, the Todd Phillips produced Project X and Rise of the Apes. While the G.I. Joe sequel is the first to be announced for that week in August 2012, this Thanksgiving's schedule is looking seriously crowded. Expect one or more of those titles to move between now and November. |
