It's hard not to be totally burned out by vampires right now. From the Twilight franchise to the remake of Fright Night, it seems as though the movie industry can't go more than a couple months without making a movie about undead bloodsuckers. Sadly the pattern doesn't seem to be ready to change and one project keeping the trend going is the upcoming Neil Jordan-directed film Byzantium. Looking at the first set photos, however, and one of the costumes that the filmmaker has star Gemma Arterton wearing, I think it might at least be worth a shot.

I'm not going to wax on about these photos, but I will say this: I haven't seen that much cleavage from a professional actress since the last time Christina Hendricks showed up at an awards show. Damn.

Based on the play by Moira Buffini (who also wrote the script), Byzantium tells the story of a man caught in between mother and daughter vampires who have agreed to a deadly pact. In addition to Arterton, the film also stars Saoirse Ronan, Sam Riley, Daniel Mays and Caleb Landry Jones. According to IMDb, the film does not yet have a distributor, but the film is expected to be released some time next year.
